The Model 5200 digital Output Pressure Transducer is a self-compensating ˇ°smartˇ± sensor. It combines the latest in piezoresistive silicon technology with SMD microprocessor based electronics to provide a convenient solution for the monitoring of pressures. Model 5200 Transducers have ASCII serial output that can be interfaced directly to PCs. Analog conversion boards and plug-in cards are not required.
An integral thermal sensor provides feedback for on-board temperature compensation. An on-board A/D and microprocessor converts analog pressure to digital format. Temperature and pressure can be sampled at up to 200 times per second and transmitted at a maximum rate of 115k-baud. The internal sample time is 1 ms and the internal conversion time, from raw A/D input to pressure, corrected for temperature and non-linearity, is about1.1ms.
Up to 32 of the Model 5200 sensors can be connected on a simple 4-wire cable. Data can be transmitted distances up to 4000 feet with half duplex RS-485 communication protocol. Each gauge supports simultaneous sampling in two modes. In single conversion mode all readings are sent back with variable delay timing. If a data stream is desired, each gauge can record into its own internal memory buffer up to 500 readings with a programmable data rate.
The Model 5200 is co***tible with off-the shelf data acquisition software and a sample program (Quick Basic) is provided for easy implementation into customer software. Unit addresses, pressure units (psi, kPa, bar, inches of water), and temperature units (Centigrade, Fahrenheit) are all user control programmable.
